Adherence
Research shows that only 50% of people that leave a doctor’s office with a prescription take the medication as prescribed. This is a lose-lose-lose situation for the patient, the health system and pharmaceutical firms.Voxiva’s Adherence solution is designed to support and engage patients to help increase their adherence to treatment and achieve better health outcomes. This solution, which is tailored to the meet the needs of specific treatment protocols, incorporates educational messages, medication, appointment and refill reminders and lets participants track their progress over time through a web-based patient portal.
Participants can self-register for this service via either the web or text messaging or they can be enrolled automatically by third party systems. At the end of the enrollment process the participant is given access to their own adherence account.
As part of the enrolment process, the participant is asked to complete a survey to capture appropriate profiling information such as age, gender and pertinent medical history. The system uses this profile to customize the patients’ management plan and personalize their experience.
Once registered, participants begin receiving personalized educational messages. The goal of these messages is to give the participant personalized education and support that helps remove confusion, fear or concern about the treatment protocol.
To help the participant get into the routine of taking medication at the appropriate times of day, the service provides a customizable schedule of reminders that are then sent out by text message. Participants are encouraged to complete interactive adherence surveys and if they meet or exceed their goals they can be sent “rewards” (for example a discount off their next prescription refill) via e-mail.
The system captures and stores adherence data that the participant can then access on-line. Participants can also set goals, view their progress and areas of improvement and access other on-line resources.
